NISSAN: Hello to Almera

Nissan

NISSAN will introduce a new model to its passenger car range this August with the arrival of the Almera. The entry-level light sedan offers strong value, attractive exterior design and exceptional interior space.

The Thai-built Almera is based on the Nissan V platform which is also the basis for the Micra hatch.

As such you could describe the car as the Micra sedan.

Like the Micra the Almera is likely to come with 1.2 and 1.5 litre four cylinder engines, although the 1.2 might be dropped for the larger car. The engine will be paired with a five speed manual or CVT style automatic.

Almera shares a new Nissan global design direction with the new Pulsar and Altima models, both recently unveiled at the Beijing and New York Auto shows.

“With Pulsar sedan and hatch and the all-new Altima set to reach Australia in 2013, Nissan is strengthening its range as we seek to reach our target of becoming the number one importer in the Australian car market,” Nissan Australia boss Bill Peffer said.

Further details including pricing will be confirmed at the Almera launch on August.
